Mark
Amen, Executive Director, GRN Academic Director, Mark Amen (amen@cas.usf.edu) received his Ph.D. in Political Science from The Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland in 1978. He has been at USF as a faculty member in the Department of Government and International Affairs since 1982. His research interests are: issues of globalization and political economy, globalizing cities, governance and finance/credit, and theories of international relations. Amen teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in political economy, international relations theory, the European Union, and globalization. Since coming to USF, Mark has served as Director of the International Studies Program (1990-93), Chair of the University's Liberal Arts Committee (1991-1993), and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences (1993-2001). Outside of work, Mark enjoys playing golf, biking, classical music, movies, and traveling. |

Rebecca Lee
Harris, Assistant Academic Director, Rebecca Lee Harris (rharris@cas.usf.edu) joined the Center in January 2002. She received her PhD in Economics from The George Washington University. Prior to joining the GRC, she was a post-doctoral fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington, DC. Her research interests include agricultural policy, rural development, and issues of sustainable development. In her free time, Rebecca enjoys swimming and other exercise, playing the piano, and being trained by the family dog. |

Marilyn
Leon, Office Manager, Dr. Kiran C. Patel Center for Global Solutions Marilyn Leon (mleon@cas.usf.edu) has been the office manager of the Center since August 2001. The USF experience she brings to the Center comes from being the Senior Accountant at the Business Office of the Marshall Center. Prior to joining USF she worked with public corporations such as PPG Industries and Chesebrough Ponds in various accounting capacities. Her recreational activities include listening to modern jazz, writing poetry, and entertaining the family dog Blankie with daily walks to the park. |

Justin
Schrefer, Grant Program Assistant, Dr. Kiran C. Patel Center for Global Solutions Justin recently joined the Patel Center staff in February 2006 to locate and pursue funding for research on water and sanitation problems in developing countries. He completed his Masters in International Relations from USF where he focused on the themes of state sovereignty and globalization. He received his B.A. in Middle East history from the University of Florida and studied abroad at the American University of Cairo, Egypt. In between degrees he taught English as a second language in Ube and Hiroshima, Japan. Last summer he participated in a Coca Cola funded internship with the non-profit group, Mercy Corps, in Baku, Azerbaijan. In his spare time, Justin loves traveling, listening to live music and going kayaking. |
